Modern Bakery Moscow

OCTOBER 10 – 13, 2011 IN MOSCOW

Nuremberg/Moscow, 17th June 2011 – The 17th MODERN BAKERY MOSCOW begins in Moscow on 10th
October 2011. With the themes of packaging technology and refrigeration technology, the main focus this
year is on two rapidly developing areas.

Strong upward trend in the packaging industry
Currently the market for packaging has particularly strong development potential in Russia. The demand is
enormous for attractive and at the same time high quality packaging options for bread and confectionery
products. More and more Russian firms are prepared to invest in new machinery and modern equipment. In
this sector in particular, foreign manufacturers can profit from the growing market capacity of the bakery
industry in Russia. In this respect, there are particularly good prospects for sales of biodegradable packaging.
In the context of an inter-regional conference of his "United Russia" party Mr Putin expressed his support for
environmentally friendly product packaging, and called for the harmonisation of Russian standards with
those of European countries. So in this respect also the Russian market will increasingly open up for
international manufacturers.

Growing demand for frozen bakery products

The market for frozen bakery products, still in early development in Russia, is also growing very quickly. For
example, over a number of years there has been a consistent increase in the demand for frozen products in
the bakery sections of Russian supermarkets. Alongside this is the trend towards convenience foods which is
leading to a rapid rise in sales. According to the trade magazine "Produktovy Rynok", experts anticipate
sector growth of up to 50% in the next five years. The refrigeration industry is also benefiting from this
expansion of market capacity.

The Who's Who of the bakery trade

This year for the fifth time the German Federal Ministry for Economics and Technology will clearly identify
MODERN BAKERY MOSCOW as the leading trade fair in Russia, by sponsoring a joint German stand. German
companies will together showcase themselves over an area of more than 1000 m² in Hall 3 under the label
"Made in Germany". In view of the standards set by Modern Bakery Moscow, the high demand for exhibition
space from both Russian and international manufacturers is hardly surprising. A wide range of leading
companies from the sector is once again represented at the trade fair, including Agro-3, backaldrin,
FRITSCH, Ireks, MIWE, Rademaker and Rondo. But many companies will also be exhibiting for the first time
at the 17th International Trade Fair for Bakery and Confectionery.

Supporting programme as a magnet for visitors

Just as in previous years, as an accompaniment to the fair a range of seminars, discussion forums and lectures
will address current topics and developments in the Russian and international bakery industry. Besides the
"Technologists' Day" and the "International Bread Forum" there will be events on the topics of refrigeration
technology and patisserie, as well as many workshops and product presentations at the exhibition stands
As in the past, this year too MODERN BAKERY MOSCOW has again been able to attract the sponsorship of
leading companies. The Austrian market leader backaldrin is the platinum sponsor. The German company
FRITSCH GmbH was secured as gold sponsor, and the Swiss company Rondo is the silver sponsor.

With 196 exhibitors and 15,770 trade visitors, MODERN BAKERY MOSCOW is the most important information
and contacts platform for the Russian bakery industry. Production technology, raw materials, sales and
distribution, refrigeration and packaging technology, as well as services associated with the bakery and
confectionery trade are just some of the areas covered by the fair. In addition, every year there is a compact
and informative accompanying programme addressing current developments in the international and
Russian markets and themes under discussion within the sector.
